Networking is changing

Learn the network. Then learn to control the network.

The modern Cisco engineer is responsible for more than routers, switches, VLANs, and routing protocols. Today’s networks increasingly combine traditional infrastructure, software-defined networking, cloud-managed platforms, APIs, and automation.

T1 teaches the networking fundamentals required for the CCNA while showing students where Cisco networking is going next.

Three modern networking layers

Fundamentals meet modern Cisco operations.

01

Cisco SD-WAN

Explore controllers, centralized management, WAN edge devices, policy-based routing, application-aware routing, overlays, branch connectivity, visibility, and monitoring.

02

Cisco Meraki

Learn cloud-managed switches, wireless, security appliances, SD-WAN, device templates, centralized configuration, network monitoring, and distributed troubleshooting.

03

Network Automation

Begin working with REST APIs, JSON, Python, Cisco and Meraki APIs, telemetry, inventory automation, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code concepts.

CCNA foundation

You still need the fundamentals.

Modern networking begins with a strong command of the protocols, addressing, switching, routing, wireless, and security concepts the CCNA is built around.

Why T1 is different

The CCNA is the foundation, not the destination.

Many CCNA courses focus almost entirely on passing an exam. T1 prepares students for certification while developing a practical understanding of what happens after certification.

Networking fundamentals + automation + APIs + SD-WAN + cloud management creates a stronger foundation for organizations modernizing their infrastructure.

The career direction

Start with devices. Grow into systems.

01

Traditional Network Engineer

Router → Switch → VLAN → OSPF → BGP

02

Modern Network Engineer

SD-WAN → Meraki → Cloud Networking → APIs → Automation

03

Network Automation Engineer

Python → REST APIs → Infrastructure as Code → Telemetry → Automated Operations

04

Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer

Cloud + Networking + Security + Automation + AI-assisted Operations

The first generation of network engineers learned how to configure devices. The next generation will learn how to design, automate, monitor, and manage entire networks as systems.

How T1 works

One live session. Every Monday. Work in between.

T1 runs for 12 months with a live Zoom training session every Monday for approximately two hours.

Homework is assigned each week. Some assignments and pop quizzes are completed through the Theo University eCourse system, so students are expected to stay engaged between live sessions.

EVERY MONDAYLive instructor-led training

Approximately two hours on Zoom, followed by practical work, assignments, and periodic eCourse quizzes.

Certification readiness

Train for the work. Be ready for the exam.

By the end of the 12-month training, the goal is for students who consistently attend, complete the assigned work, and study the material to be confidently prepared to sit for the official Cisco CCNA certification exam.

The official CCNA exam is administered by Cisco and is separate from Theo University training.
